(AP) ? Seattle Mariners outfielder Greg Halman was stabbed to death early Monday and his brother was arrested as a suspect, Dutch police said.

Rotterdam Police spokeswoman Patricia Wessels said police were called to a home in the port city in the early hours of the morning and found the 24-year-old Dutch player bleeding from a stab wound.

The officers and ambulance paramedics were unable to resuscitate Halman.

Wessels said the officers arrested Halman's 22-year-old brother. She declined to give his name, in line with Dutch privacy rules.

"He is under arrest and right now he is being questioned," Wessels told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "It will take some time to figure out what exactly happened."

No charges have been filed in the case.

Halman hit .230 in 35 games and made starts at all three outfield positions for the Mariners in 2011 before being optioned to Triple-A Tacoma.

Because he played professionally in the United States, Halman was not part of the Netherlands team that won the Baseball World Cup in Panama last month. The Dutch beat Cuba 2-1 in the final to become the first European team to win the title.

Born in the city of Haarlem, Halman played in the Dutch Pro League and was part of the gold-medal winning Dutch squad at the 2007 European Championship.

Former major leaguer Robert Eenhorn, the technical director of the Dutch baseball association, said he was devastated by the news.

"The only thing I can say right now is we are deeply shocked," Eenhorn, who played for the New York Yankees and Anaheim Angels in the 1990s, told the AP. "All our thoughts are with his family and how they are going to have to deal with this tremendous loss."

Halman was in Europe this month as part of the European Big League Tour, an initiative organized by Baltimore Orioles pitcher Rick Van den Hurk in which major leaguers gave clinics to children. Van den Hurk is also Dutch.

"It's really sad and it's really terrible the way it happened," International Baseball Federation President Riccardo Fraccari said. "We mourn for him and respect his family's sorrow."

Massimo Fochi, the vice president of the Italian baseball federation, said he met Halman less than two weeks ago at a European Big League Tour event in Parma.

"He was a great guy and the most appreciated by the kids," Fochi said. "His passing away is really painful."

Exclusive: Lenovo to release a 10.1-inch Ice Cream Sandwich tablet with Tegra 3 by year's end

You wouldn't think a giant like Lenovo would stop at just three (or four) Android tablets now, would you? In fact, a little birdie has informed us that said Chinese company will release a new 10.1-inch tablet by the end of the year, and unsurprisingly, Ice Cream Sandwich along with NVIDIA's Tegra 3 are on the menu. Other features include 2GB 1,600MHz DDR3 RAM, a standard USB host socket (covered by a not-so-elegant pop-out flap), a back-facing camera of unknown resolution, a "Special Fusion-Skin Body" and, most interestingly, a fingerprint scanner that apparently doubles as an optical joystick on the seemingly flat backside -- only time will tell whether this layout makes sense. Our source hasn't spilled any info on the dimensions and weight, but judging by the photos in our gallery, this 1.6GHz quad-core slate should be significantly thinner than the IdeaPad K1 or LePad sitting underneath. As always, you'll hear from us as soon as we find out more.

[Thanks, Anonymous]

Italy Senate passes budget, Berlusconi end nigh (Reuters)

ROME (Reuters) ? Italy's Senate approved economic reforms intended to reverse a collapse of market confidence on Friday, kicking off a rapid transition that will end the era of Silvio Berlusconi and clear the way for an emergency government within days.

The package of austerity measures demanded by the European Union now goes to the lower house which is expected to approve it on Saturday, triggering the resignation of the prime minister and ending a 17-year era in which he has loomed large over Italy.

The news had an immediate salutary effect on markets.

Italian bond yields, which raced way above sustainable levels earlier this week, fell sharply in response to acceleration of Berlusconi's resignation and the approval of the reforms.

Former European Commissioner Mario Monti, who is expected to replace the billionaire media magnate by Monday, was applauded when he took his place for the vote after being appointed a Senator for life by President Giorgio Napolitano.

The appointment, transforming Monti from academic to legislator, was seen as clear confirmation that he will be asked to head a largely technocratic government to push through reforms in an effort to head off a perilous crisis.

Global markets panicked earlier this week because of the sustained political turmoil in the euro zone's third largest economy, and Italy's borrowing costs shot above a "red line" of 7 percent -- the level at which Portugal and Ireland had to seek an international bailout.

Deeply alarmed by the crisis, Napolitano banged heads to end the uncertainty and get a functioning government in place within days.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy expressed confidence in a telephone call to Napolitano that a new broad based government would be formed soon capable of overcoming a crisis he said was extremely worrying for all of Europe.

Despite the new optimism, analysts say Monti could face an uphill battle implementing unpopular reforms with strong opposition expected from political groups on both left and right. They said even if he was successful this would not necessarily restore investor confidence in the country.

"Investors are placing too much faith in the formation of a technocratic government...Technocracy should not be seen as a panacea for Italy's ills," said Nicholas Spiro, head of Spiro Sovereign Strategy in London.

European Council President Herman Van Rompuy said in a speech in Italy that implementation of the reforms was crucial but the country would have "real work to do." He said Italy must get on with the reforms, not hold elections.

GERMAN PRESIDENT

Christian Wulff, president of EU paymaster Germany, also called Napolitano -- who is effectively running Italy after forcing the pace to end the crisis. They agreed the new measures should be enacted quickly, the president's office said.

A statement by business groups and moderate trade unions on Friday said Italy must have a broad based emergency government by Monday led by an authoritative figure.

"The time for waiting is over," the statement said, adding that whoever failed to support the new government would be guilty of taking the country to a point of no return.

Berlusconi, who lost his majority in a vote on Tuesday, has promised to resign after the financial stability law is passed by both houses of parliament. The delay to his resignation, and talk of a long limbo before elections had unnerved the markets.

Napolitano is thought to want to have Monti's new government in place before markets open on Monday.

Oliver Bailly, spokesman for the European Commission, said the Italian reforms were substantial. "It really does contain many measures which are required to reform and restore the Italian economy and to reassure the markets," he said.

But he said the commission was still waiting for the response to a letter sent to Berlusconi which asked for more details and said additional measures would be needed.

Monti, a respected international economist, has been favored by markets for weeks to lead Italy out of the crisis.

But although he would be supported by most centrists and the biggest opposition force, the Democratic Party, there is substantial opposition in Berlusconi's existing coalition.

His chief coalition partner, the Northern League, has said it would not back Monti and Berlusconi's PDL party is seriously split. Some analysts say it could implode because of the crisis, with members moving to other parties.

Neo-Nazi murders, film confession shock Germany (Reuters)

BERLIN (Reuters) ? Germany's Interior Minister warned Sunday of a "new form of far-right terrorism" as details emerged of a grotesque film left by members of a neo-Nazi cell in eastern Germany, in which they claimed the murder of nine immigrants between 2000 and 2006.

Prosecutors said police had arrested a suspected accomplice of the group, which referred to itself in the film as the "Nationalist Socialist Underground," and which is also thought to be behind the murder of a policewoman in 2007 and a bomb attack on a Turkish area of Cologne in 2004.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the murders were shameful for Germany.

"We must assume that this is right-wing extremism in the worst form, and it is shaming that such a thing can happen in our country," she told German television.

The revelations, which have caused shock and outrage across Germany, began after police found the bodies of two men, Uwe Mundlos and Uwe Boehnhardt, both with far-right links, in a mobile home in Eisenach last week. Police believe they killed themselves after a botched bank robbery.

Shortly after the discovery investigators searched a burned-out house in Zwickau, used by the men and one woman, "Beate Z," who later handed herself in to police. There they found guns used in the murder of the policewoman and of the nine vendors, eight of whom were of Turkish background and the other a Greek.

All had run small businesses or fast-food stands, in cities across Germany, leading to the killings being dubbed the "doner murders."

Police also found a 15-minute film recorded on DVDs ready to be sent to Islamic cultural organizations and the media.

The German magazine Spiegel printed stills from the film showing the murder victims' bodies and grotesque montages made by the group showing the cartoon figure of the Pink Panther to point out the scenes of the killings.

"Germany Tour -- Nine Turks shot" said a placard in one cartoon scene.

Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich said all unsolved crimes with a suspected far-right connection dating back to 1998 would be re-examined for connections to the group, originating in Jena, in the eastern state of Thuringia.

"It looks as if we are dealing here with a new form of far-right terrorism," Friedrich said.

Protesters, many with Turkish roots, gathered at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin Sunday to protest against neo-Nazis. Opposition politicians expressed anger that the cell went undetected for so long.

"Beate Z" faces charges of murder, attempted murder, arson and belonging to a terrorist organization.

Obama, Medvedev discuss Iran, Afghanistan, Syria (Reuters)

HONOLULU (Reuters) ? President Barack Obama said he and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev discussed Afghanistan, Iran and Syria, among other topics, in their meeting on Saturday.

Obama said he and Medvedev "reaffirmed our intention to work and shape a common response so we can move Iran to follow its international obligations when it comes to its nuclear program."

Russia's government has been cool to any new U.N. Security Council sanctions on Iran. On Tuesday, the U.N. nuclear watchdog said in a report Tehran had worked on developing a nuclear bomb design and may still be conducting such research.

Obama gave no details about the discussion on Syria. On Afghanistan, he said they discussed the importance of regional powers supporting the government in Kabul.

In the meeting on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, Medvedev said there was a large gap between Washington and Moscow's positions on U.S. plans for a missile defense system based in Europe.

"We have agreed to continue the search of possible solutions, with the understanding of the fact that our positions still remain far apart," Medvedev told reporters.

Obama congratulated Russia on its move toward membership in the World Trade Organization, which it is expected to join next month. Medvedev was effusive in his thanks for what he called Obama's "active and engaged" support for Russia's WTO bid.

"We have not been offered such support by the (previous) U.S. administrations before," he said in remarks translated from Russian. "And maybe this is the reason why it took us since 1993 to join this organization."

(AP) ? Central Bangkok will see only mild flooding if it ends up falling victim to the waters that have devastated much of Thailand, the prime minister said Saturday.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra offered her prognosis on her weekly radio broadcast as the water covering parts of northern Bangkok for days appeared to be falling.

Yingluck cites flood experts in saying water in the center of the capital will not be deeper than 12 inches (30 centimeters). She acknowledged that "it is hard to say how far floodwater would get into the heart of the capital."

Some less developed, less densely populated areas north of Bangkok were submerged under more than 6 feet (2 meters) of water. The floods have killed more than 500 people since late July and caused billions of dollars in damage.

Worries about flooding are now focused to the east and west of the city center.

In the east, several industrial estates are under threat, despite flood walls and pumps. Seven major industrial estates, mostly north of the capital, already were flooded, shutting down hundreds of factories, including assembly plants for Honda and Toyota. Water has been receding there, and recovery efforts began this past week.

West of central Bangkok, floodwaters may cut off the main route south from the city, Rama II Road, a situation about which Yingluck expressed concern. Authorities are working to clear an alternate route that was previously flooded.

Merkel will cruise to 2013 win: pollster (Reuters)

BERLIN (Reuters) ? Chancellor Angela Merkel will most likely have little trouble winning a third term in 2013 because the center-left opposition lacks a candidate with enough appeal to defeat her, a leading German pollster said Tuesday.

Manfred Guellner, managing director of the Forsa polling institute, said the euro zone debt crisis would not harm Merkel's chances even though she has been blamed for exacerbating the turmoil by dithering early on.

"I don't see anyone on the horizon who could seriously endanger Merkel," Guellner, whose polls were the most accurate in forecasting Germany's 2002, 2005 and 2009 election results, told Reuters in an interview.

"She's respected across party lines and has excellent popularity ratings."

Merkel's conservatives (CDU/CSU) are polling about 31 percent in Forsa surveys while the center-left Social Democrats (SPD) are at 27 percent. The SPD hope to form a coalition with the Greens, polling 16 percent.

Merkel's current partners, the Free Democrats (FDP), are on 3 percent -- below the 5 percent threshold needed for seats in parliament -- after winning 14.6 percent in 2009.

Guellner said there is little chance of the CDU/CSU-FDP coalition holding power beyond 2013. The most likely outcome would be a grand coalition of CDU/CSU-SPD with a CDU/CSU-Greens coalition the second most likely result, he said.

"The SPD and Greens are not going to win enough for a majority," Guellner said. Polls earlier this year showed the SPD and Greens with enough for a majority but that dissolved in recent months. Both will be far behind the CDU/CSU, he said.

The SPD has three possible challengers -- SPD chairman Sigmar Gabriel, parliamentary floor leader Frank-Walter Steinmeier and former Finance Minister Peer Steinbrueck.

But Guellner said none of them had a chance against Merkel.

Steinbrueck has been billed as the leading contender in recent months because he is a centrist in the left-leaning party who could lure voters away from Merkel's conservatives, even though the SPD's left wing is firmly opposed to his candidacy.

"The SPD has zero chance with Steinbrueck," said Guellner, noting that his appeal to centrist voters is more than negated by opposition from those who remember his mixed performance as finance minister in Merkel's grand coalition.

All three SPD candidates have lost their most important elections -- Steinbrueck to the CDU in North-Rhine Westphalia in 2005, Gabriel to the CDU in Lower Saxony in 2003 and Steinmeier, the federal election against Merkel in 2009.

"None of those three candidates has much of a chance," Guellner said. However, he noted that Gabriel had gained stature as SPD chairman and there was a possibility that his standing among voters could rise further.

"If the SPD picks one of those three then Merkel will quite clearly be ahead of them all in 2013," he said.

Guellner said the euro zone crisis, which has contributed to CDU election defeats in seven states this year, was not hurting Merkel at all.

"It's abstract and few understand what it's all about," he said. "Who could possibly know what all this talk of 'leveraging' is all about?

"Yet people see Merkel is out there working hard on it and that earns their respect."

Guellner said the crisis was feeding into concern about monetary instability but Merkel gets no blame for that.

"People worry about monetary stability and social welfare, and whether there will be enough money to fix potholes, or paint classrooms or fix broken toilets in schools," he said.

"But the bigger issues are for the most part above everyone's heads. It's not hurting Merkel."

The Court of King James...Players Needed

[This is a wanted ad for the role play The Court of King James created by Calvazara. We need three more characters. The storyline is outlined below, and the three characters we need are at the bottom. Here is a link to the role play if you are interested. Thanks!]

~TwiliXDragon

Avalon is a powerful Island nation, whose history stretches back thousands of years and the current monarchy can trace its family tree back to the original settlers, an exiled King and his loyalists from the neighbouring country of Luxor. These first few turned an untamed island into the most desired country in the world; however this did not come without sacrifice. Many battles were fought on land and sea for power over Avalon, a strategic stronghold for any country wanting to conquer more land, no more so than between the Avalonian?s and the Luxor?s, who?s feud had been taking place since the original settlers and continues onwards, with both armies and navy?s of equal strength a stalemate occurred on all fronts, which resulted in a peace treaty, this has been in place for a hundred years but recently tempers have started to flare once more and both side rebuild their armies for what can only be described as an inevitable war.

The current reigning monarch is the House of DeGrey; they are currently the longest reigning monarch with their rule spanning two hundred years. The DeGrey?s are a family loved by their people, ruling as a just monarch but with a line of adultery and bastard children, many other houses have rivalled their claim to the throne. Scandal has constantly been a major feature during the DeGrey?s rule over the years, murder, adultery, treason and torture have all been very present in the lives of the previous King?s, Queen?s, princes and princesses. The crown is passed down on the current King or Queen?s death bed to the child they believe has earned the right; this has always been the eldest son up to now.

The Story

With King Edward DeGrey III on his death bed, he bequeaths the crown onto his eldest son Prince James, causing some tensions in the family as many don?t believe he had earned the right to succeed his father, due to living most of his life ignoring his royal duties, favouring sporting events, drinking and women. The story begins with his coronation and I will collaborate with other players to develop more story arch?s as the RP moves on.

The Characters

-King James DeGrey: A self centered and seemingly moral-less Prince, many people have doubts he will be able to step up and take the throne. The oldest out of the DeGrey Children, closest to his sister, Evelyn, he often goes to her for advice and she is a very influential part of his life.

-Duke........... Devalin: Cousin to the king, the Duke had spent much of his life in the shadows of his cousins, the DeGrey, siblings. He believes that the DeGrey's are to corrupt to run Avalon and is not above leading a rebellion against them.

-Duchess........... Devalin: The manipulative sister of the Duke and cousin to the King, she often exploits her position in the court. Pretty but very self-centered she despises her cousins? popularity at court.

Talks on Greek coalition to start soon: Papandreou (Reuters)

ATHENS (Reuters) ? Negotiations to form a Greek coalition government will start soon, Prime Minister George Papandreou said on Saturday, launching a new push to save the nation from bankruptcy and prevent its crisis from sweeping over Europe and beyond.

Papandreou told the Greek president that the nation had to forge a political consensus to prove it wanted to keep the euro, as European leaders try to persuade the outside world that the currency bloc can overcome its huge debt problems.

"In order to create this wider cooperation, we will start the necessary procedures and contacts soon," he told reporters after meeting President Karolos Papoulias.

Hours after surviving a parliamentary confidence vote, Papandreou said Greece had to avoid early elections, calling for a broad-based government to secure a bailout from the euro zone, the main weapon in Europe's battle against the spreading economic crisis.

"My aim is to immediately create a government of cooperation," he told the president in the presence of reporters before they held talks behind closed doors. "A lack of consensus would worry our European partners over our country's will to stay in the euro zone."

Political sources involved in the dealmaking said negotiations are being led behind the scenes by Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos, who aims to head the new coalition.

FAMOUS FATHER, FAMOUS GRANDFATHER

The sources said Papandreou, a socialist whose father and grandfather were Greek prime ministers, would step aside to make way for Venizelos, the man he beat to his PASOK party's leadership in 2004.

Without saying when he might quit, Papandreou -- who has led

Greece through two years of political, economic and social turmoil -- said he was ready to discuss who should lead the new government which would rule until elections probably early next year.

"The last thing I care about is my post. I don't care even if I am not re-elected. The time has come to make a new effort ... I never thought of politics as a profession," he told parliament before the vote in the early hours of Saturday.

A new coalition is likely to exclude the main opposition party, the conservative New Democracy.

Papandreou said the coalition should aim to ram the 130-billion-euro bailout deal through the assembly, the last financial lifeline for a nation that is due to run out of money in December.

Under heavy domestic and international pressure, the prime minister has backed down on a proposal for a referendum on the euro zone rescue. Greek voters could well have rejected the deal, potentially sinking euro zone leaders' attempts to stop the debt crisis devastating economies such as Italy and Spain.

THINGS MAY TURN UGLY

Greeks, burdened by waves of spending and welfare cuts plus tax rises which have pushed the country into a long recession, expressed disgust at the political wrangling up at parliament.

"I'm sick of politicians in Greece, and feel that things will now turn ugly. If only they could cooperate, everything would be much better," said Tassos Pagonis, a 48-year-old Athens taxi driver. "But will Greece be saved? I'm afraid not. Europeans don't trust us anymore, they will throw us out."

Pagonis expressed a fear widespread in the nation -- that Greece might be forced out of the euro zone to go it alone with a revived national currency. "I hope we don't return to the drachma," he said.

Pensioner Yiannis Vlahos, 83, compared the fates of Greece and Germany, which occupied the country in World War Two.

"When the Germans left we had some hope. They were ruined by World War Two but they worked hard and became the strongest economy. We Greeks haven't learned our lesson, we only steal," he said. "We ourselves hate our beautiful country."

Papandreou's socialist government won with 153 votes in the 300 member parliament, and a rebellion by some dissidents in his PASOK party failed to materialize after he indicated that his term as prime minister was close to an end.

The leaders of France and Germany told Papandreou this week that Greece would not get a cent more of aid if Greece failed to approve the bailout, meaning that the state would run out of money in December.

Newspapers labeled Papandreou's confidence victory as little more than a deal paving the way for a new government without Papandreou. The pro-government Ta Nea ran with "New government now!"

Greece has been racked by torment since soon after Papandreou won power in 2009 and revealed that the real budget deficit was three times bigger than original estimates put out by his conservative predecessor.

International investors took fright, Greece's borrowing costs soared and Papandreou was forced to go cap in hand last year to the only bodies still willing to lend at affordable rates -- the European Union and IMF.

In return they demanded wave after wave of spending cuts, tax rises and pension cuts which provoked widespread protests on the streets on Greek cities, with bloody clashes between demonstrators and riot police in Athens.

FAILING AGAIN

Masamichi Adachi, senior economist at JP Morgan Securities Japan, said the main concern was what would happen when international lenders returned to Athens in the coming months to assess the progress of the austerity plan and "find them failing again."

"This is just pushing away the timing of the real problem. Of course it's welcome that Greece didn't blow up today, but it doesn't solve the problem."

Analysts said Papandreou's victory had been Pyrrhic, and many ordinary Greeks said they were disenchanted with Byzantine political wrangling that was not addressing their basic need for jobs and cash.

Sources said Venizelos has won the backing of leaders of some smaller parties to support a coalition that he would head. The leaders of the far-right LAOS party and another center-right party indicated after Papandreou's speech that they would cooperate in a new coalition.

In parliament, Venizelos said a new government should rule until next February and then call elections.

Opposition leader Antonis Samaras counted his New Democracy party out of the coalition, saying Papandreou had spurned his call for a national unity government. "Mr Papandreou rejected our proposal. The only solution is elections," he said.

Former SD Gov. Janklow says he's dying of cancer (AP)

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. ? Former South Dakota Gov. Bill Janklow said Friday that he's dying of brain cancer, but that he's undergoing experimental treatment that he hopes will save him.

Janklow, a Republican who dominated South Dakota politics for more than a quarter century, said the cancer is aggressive and that he's preparing to undergo treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

"I know it's over, I know it's at the end of the trail, but I don't hurt," he told reporters gathered at his Sioux Falls law firm Friday. His forehead was scarred and stapled from recent medical procedures.

Janklow was elected governor in 1978 and served two four-year terms. He lost the Republican Senate primary in 1986 to the incumbent, Jim Abdnor, and then joined an investment firm and later a law firm.

Janklow served another two four-year terms as governor beginning in 1994. He was elected in 2002 to the U.S. House, but his career was cut short after he sped through a stop sign and killed Randy Scott of Hardwick, Minn., in an Aug. 16, 2003, accident in Moody County north of Sioux Falls.

A jury convicted Janklow of second-degree manslaughter and three other charges.

"If I had to do it over, I'd do everything I did, but I'd stop at a stop sign," he said as he broke down in tears.

Janklow was returning to his Brandon home after attending an event in Aberdeen when he ran the stop sign.

Part of his defense was that as a diabetic, his senses and reflexes were dulled from low blood sugar and that he missed the early warning signs because a heart medication masked them.

Janklow said he had not eaten since the night before the accident. He testified in his trial that he had no clear memory of the collision, but did not consciously drive through the stop sign.

During his news conference Friday, Janklow defended himself against a news report that he recently closed his state campaign account that he maintained since leaving office nearly nine years ago. The account held more than $850,000.

"I removed them from the public arena because I'm using them for things other than politics," he said. "There are other people that are sick. There are other people that are dying. They don't need to be on television or in the newspaper. I'm providing lots of assistance to different individuals who have problems."

He said one of the things he is doing is establishing a foundation at the University of South Dakota to fund scholarships for students who can't afford to pay for school.

Republican Sen. John Thune, who was first elected to Congress when Janklow was governor, said his thoughts and prayers go out to Janklow and his family.

"We hope they can treat this thing and he can beat it. But obviously it's a sad day for South Dakota when something like this happens to one of our former leaders and somebody who been so impactful for our state," Thune said.

During his first two terms as governor, Janklow engineered the state's purchase of a rail line, got state law's on interest rates changed to lure Citibank and other credit-card banks to South Dakota, and persuaded the Legislature to convert the University of South Dakota-Springfield campus into a prison.

He also negotiated a deal to sell Missouri River water to a company that wanted to use the water in a pipeline that would have shipped Wyoming coal to southern states, but the project failed.

After returning to the governor's office in 1995, he persuaded the Legislature to pass his plan for cutting property taxes. He also won approval for buidling a new women's prison and facilities for juvenile offenders.

Now, I don't really like to reserve characters for other people, I like to choose the character of someone by picking which character is more developed. This way, everyone would work harder on their character (for a specific role) to make them more 'special'. :) Anyone can have the potential to be anyone they desire here.

You can of course claim which character you want to be or is trying out for, but at then end it's I who decide who will get the part or not.

DEADLINE:
November 6, 2011
Time: 3:00PM

(This is for applying your character for any of the MAIN roles.
Remember: anyone can try out for any character, but I will decide who will get the role. My desicion will be judged on how well your character is developed.)

Good Idea, makes people work for their roles making them less likely to leave rp... I'm in

Wants to be a male hunter, but there's only one... Guess I'll be applying for Marcus then :3
To anyone else who wants to be Marcus "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED"

Oh... do we choose last names?

Okay, already working on my character! x3

Also, is the use of first person allowed? I mean, not for the actual posts but for the character form. If not, could I at least use a combination of first and third?

RoxUrSox: Choose your own last name.

Well, I could create a League of Hunters and a League of Vampires. Elizabeth would be the leader of the League of Vampires, and Rebecca would be second in command. (There are two groups within the league, one that would most follow Elizabeth and another that would mostly follow Rebecca. Usually, Noble vampires have the seats in leading. Damn Politics....) With the League of Hunters...I'm not very sure...

SO! If anyone have any additional information on what to add to this story, please do tell. Since I just created this story, I can add new things in and I would like this story to not only be mine, but yours as well.

I try not to create many MAIN roles, because I've noticed in other stories when that happens, it usually dies out. I could create apprentice and supportive roles that would take over a main roles missions or issues that he or she left behind if any of the main role happens to disappear or die.

This story could be much more than a simple love story. War could break out, many deaths could occur...etc. There are more underlining problems then it appears to be. It's all up to us as writers and how much we can accomplish really.

Tumbleweed: "For the character form?" What exactly do you mean by that? In your character's application? If it's for your characters application, then yes, you could use first and third person. I don't really care if it's for your application, use whatever form of writing for your application that is most comfortable for you...

Vampire politics is such a hassle to figure out... I personally like VTMB's politics since it made the most sense to me anyway. Camarila = Booooo!, Sabat = DIE!, Kue Jin = DIE! DIE! DIE!!!, Anarchs = Sweet, Independent = Meh... (Well my thoughts on VTMB's politics anyway xD)

Is loving the fact that Aiden and Emilia are like soul mates, or at least Emilia looks like Aiden's Emilia. Kinda feels like Marcus is going to get screwed over latter... dunno xD

I haven't played VTMB so I have no idea how it is. >.

Well, I added more information into the introduction hopefully to make it seem more than just a typical love story (I don't want that). I also added two supportive roles (it doesn't matter if someone takes them or not), but they are there and could be promoted to a main role, but as for right now, they are just supportive roles. Hopefully, my additional information isn't too confusing...I hope it makes it for interesting as well for other people.

emotionless: All the female spots are still open. You can try out for a character if you want. Even if someone tries out for that same character, I will be the one to decide who will obtain that role.

Lol Emotionless xD
How have you been aye? xD

P.S: VTMB is like my favorite vampire game of all time, it's kinda old now but it still is epic... Still play it from time to time and it's like how many years old xD Just love the game... wished it was free roaming after you finished the game though cause once you finished the last mission, that's pretty much it. Unless you play it again, which I've done like countless of times xD

[Edit: Wished there was a preview character application thing you know... oh well Marcus application sent]

imma try out for Emilia: The reincarnation of Aiden's true soul mate. Girlfriend to Marcus. She's human right, because she's dating a hunter?

User avatar
emotionless
Member for 2 years

emotionless: Yep, she is human. :) Perhaps I should put that down to make it more clear.

RoxUrSox: Maybe or maybe not~ Marcus has a unique position and Elizabeth might try to set a deal with him. I can't tell what kind of deal though.

Ooooh 3 girls trying out for Emilia... and I thought someone was going to try and challenge me for Marcus xD

I was thinking along the same lines as that Link. Thought if Emilia and Aiden become romantically involved Marcus and Elizabeth would work together to end it... Don't know if Marcus would ever go through with a plan with Elizabeth though... but you never know

[Edit:Gahr... excuse me I need to make a correction 4 girls trying out for Emilia... tsk tsk xD]

Commodore USA goes Extreme, stuffs a 2.2GHz quad-core i7 into its C64x

We've loved Commodore USA's C64 computer recreations ever since it began producing them back in 2010. Much to our delight, the company recently outed its third variant, the C64x Extreme. This unit features the '80s flair we've come to appreciate, but supercharged to 2011 spec. Crammed inside its case is a 2.2GHz Intel core i7 quad-core CPU (capable of turbo boosting to 3.3GHz), 8GB of DDR3 RAM, Intel HD integrated graphics and a spacious 2TB HDD. Externally, you'll find a duo of USB 3.0 ports, a triplet of USB 2.0 ports and an eSATA connection, along with HDMI, 3.5mm S/PDIF, VGA and DVI ports for A/V hookups. Best of all, it's loaded with Bluetooth, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, an Ethernet port and even a DVD-RW drive on its side. The C64X-Ex will initially come loaded with Linux Mint 11, and it'll fully support Windows once the company's "retro inspired" Commodore OS Vision becomes available. Of course, the C64x-Ex's blend of vintage looks and modern-day power will cost ya -- to a tune of $1,500. If that's cool by your books, Commodore USA plans to ship orders placed by November 25th before December 15th. Full press release after the break.
